I recently had a photo shoot with a good friend of mine, Melinda Nagy Otero in Naples, Florida. I have known her for for about 15 years. We met when we both worked in a sales center for a community development in Naples. Since then, we have gone off to other careers but stayed connected. She has been following her passion for photography for a long time while working a full time job, being a wife, mother, etc, etc. She has always been professional, hard working, compassionate and oh so fun and silly when you need her to be.
She is working on a project, 40 Over 40 - highlighting women over 40. When I agreed to do the shoot, I knew it would be fun. I knew she would capture some great shots (check out her work and follow her on Instagram @melindaphoto). What I didn't expect was how powerful I felt when I got to see the photo shoot. And I felt kind of weird wanting to share all of the photos on social media. But I am proud of them! I am also proud of her for not giving up on her dream, proud of myself for leaving the corporate job world and taking a risk (as a single mother at the time) starting a new career in health and wellness which has enriched my life beyond what I could ever have imagined.
So, thank you, Melinda, for helping me to celebrate myself. Thank you to my clients and students, who trust me with their health and wellness. Without you, I would not be able to make a living around what I love. And thank you to my family and friends who are always supportive of the things that I am doing, even if you don't fully understand it.
How can you celebrate yourself today?
